Paper Vs. Vinyl Banners: How to Choose
Custom banners are a great way to promote your business or special event. At Disc Hounds, we print both paper and vinyl banners. Both paper and vinyl custom banners are professional-looking options designed to stand up to the outdoor elements–to an extent. Choose depending on your needs, how the banner will be applied, and considering the following pros and cons of each.
The Pros of Paper
Designed for strength, paper banners are thinner than vinyl and look their best when hung on a flat surface. The most low-cost option, paper banners can be used both indoors and outdoors, as long as it’s not too rainy or windy outside. This makes paper banners perfect for parties and special occasions.
The Cons of Paper
Usually only good for one-time use, paper banners can be folded up and re-used as long as they are treated with care and not creased. And unlike vinyl banners, paper banners can’t hold up to rain, wind, snow or other adverse weather conditions. There are fewer hanging options, as well, since the thinness of paper can be too translucent when hung anywhere other than a flat surface.
The Pros of Vinyl
Vinyl banners are durable, which makes them perfect for repeat uses, like convention booths and annual sales or promotions. Because they are weather resistant, vinyl banners can be hung outdoors for extended periods of time and can be hung anywhere you please.
The Cons of Vinyl
Vinyl banners tend to cost more than paper banners and can be harder to store. They also crease easily and are difficult to transport because of their size.
